Rio Holidays Tours

To help you get the most out of your time in Rio, Rio Holidays offers an array of tours guided by local, English-speaking experts. They include pick-up and return to your nearby hotel or apartment. The tours depart daily unless otherwise noted.

Rio in a Day

(Daily) 09:00 – 18:00

Price: R$ 175,00 per person (Bondinho + Maracanã + Cathedral + Downtown + Lunch + Statue + Sambadrome + Forest + Beaches)

Start with a visit to Sugarloaf Mountain, one of Rio's iconic landmarks. Tour the surrounding area of Urca and some of the city's most famous beaches. After a lunch break, we'll head to Corcovado, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, with the famous statue of Christ that towers over Rio. Then it's on to Maracana, the legendary football stadium, where, for a 20-Real entrance fee, you can visit the Maracana Museum, a shrine to Brazilian football. Next up is the Sambodromo, where the Carnival parades are held every year. Finally, we'll visit the city center, with stops at the historic Cathedral St. Sebastian, Teatro Municipal and National Library.

Corcovado and the Statue of Christ

(Daily) 14:00 – 18:00

Price: R$ 90,00 per person (Statue + Cathedral + Downtown + Maracanã + Sambadrome)

710 meters above Rio is the city's most famous sight — the statue of Christ, atop Corcovado Mountain. Immortalized in song by the great Brazilian composer, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and since its inauguration in 1931 the very symbol of Rio de Janeiro, the site welcomes millions of visitors a year. We'll ride the tram to the summit and take in the panoramic views and the majestic 38-meter statue. Afterwards, pass through the city center and take in some of its most memorable historic sites.

Sugarloaf Mountain

(Daily) 09:00 – 13:00

Price: R$ 100.00 per person (Bondinho + Tour of beaches to the viewpoint of Leblon)

Ride a cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain and take in the spectacular views of Rio. Then tour the surrounding area of Urca, a quiet, quaint neighborhood along Guanabara Bay. Finally, we'll go where the Brazilians go — to the city's most beautiful, vibrant and sexy beaches.

Imperial Petropolis

(Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) 10:00 - 18:00

Price: R$ 90.00 per person (Crystal Palace + Casa de Santos Dumont + Downtown)

65 km from Rio, high up in the cool, verdant, picturesque mountains, Is Petropolis, once home to the 19th century emperors of Brazil. Visit the old city casino, the Imperial Museum, the Crystal Palace, the cathedral, the House of Santos Dumont, and the Flower Clock. Finally, on the way back to Rio, get a chocolate fix at a real-life chocolate factory.

The Beautiful Game

(According to the days of games) About 4 hours

If you haven't seen a Brazilian football game, you haven't seen Brazil. It's the national obsession — played everywhere, debated everywhere, worshipped everywhere.

And Maracana is the world's most fabled stadium.

The tour includes pick-up and drop-off to a game, an English-speaking guide, and your entry ticket.

Please note: games are usually played on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The tour is not available in December or January because professional clubs are on holiday.

Favela da Rocinha

(Daily) 14:00 - 17:00

Price: R$ 85.00 per person (House of Arts and Culture + Viewpoints)

Rio is famously a city of contrasts. The very wealthy live side-by-side with the poor. This is a chance to discover how the disadvantaged live — a fascinating visit to one of Rio's hillside shantytowns, or favelas. The community has enthusiastically embraced these tours, and you'll be helping to contribute to their well-being. 10% of the price of your tour will go directly back to the community to support social projects.

Churrascuria + Show (Plataforma 1)

(Daily) 20:00 to 00:00

Price: R$ 110,00 per person / without dinner (Ticket + Transfer in / out) or R$ 135,00 per person with dinner (Ticket + Transfer in / out + dinner at Grill In)

Brazil's most beloved restaurant style is the churrascuria, the all-you-can-eat restaurants where waiters carve a huge variety of meats right at your table, and you can help yourself to a sumptuous buffet of salads, sushi and hot dishes. Meat-lovers, memorize the word "picanha" (a Brazilian cut of sirloin). There are also plenty of vegetarian options.

After the meal, we'll head to the Plataforma Theater for a dazzling show featuring folklore from all over Brazil, including capoeira, samba dancers in carnival costumes, macumba and percussion.

The Sounds of Brazil - Lapa with Rio Scenarium

(Thursday to Sunday) 20:00 - 02:00

Price: R$ 120,00 per person with dinner or R$ 100,00 per person without dinner (Tickets + Transfer in / out + dinner (optional))

Lapa is a neighborhood in downtown Rio that once fell on hard times but in the last 15 years has enjoyed an extraordinary renaissance. Today, it's the nightlife capitol of Rio, alive with restaurants, nightclubs, and above all, people. Have dinner in a churrascuria, then head to Rio Scenarium, one of the clubs that fueled the renaissance. A quirky mix of antique store and music venue, it's a wonderful place to discover Brazilian music — from samba to MPB to choro. If you don't end up dancing, something's very wrong.

Angra Dos Reis and Ilha Grande

(Daily) 07:00 - 20:00

Price: R$ 120,00 per person (Transfer in / out + Sailboat + Lunch + Fruits onboard)

Pretty much the definition of "tropical paradise." An amalgam of 365 islands, one for every day of the year, this is where the Brazilian helicopter set parks its helicopters. Turquoise waters, floating bars, yachts, and that impossible tropical green as far as the eye can see. The three-hour drive down the coast is breathtaking. We'll board a boat and stop on three of the islands (you'll want to come back for the other 362), have lunch on board, then return to Rio.

The Tropical Islands

(Daily) 08:00 - 18:00

An hour and a half south of Rio sits the picturesque village of Itacuruca. There, you'll board a schooner and tour the gorgeous islands of Jaguanum, Martins, and Itacuruca Island. At Jaguanum, there's a stop for lunch and a swim in the turquoise waters.

Búzios

(Daily) 07:00 - 20:00

Price: R$ 120,00 per person (Transfer in / out + Lunch + Sailboat)

Buzios is an internationally renowned beach resort a couple of hours north of Rio, made famous by Brigitte Bardot in the 1960s, when she spent time here with her Brazilian lover. (There's even a statue of her on the promenade.) We'll visit some of the area's beautiful beaches, then return to the city for lunch and a walk through the charming cobblestone main street, the Rua das Pedras, lined with fashionable boutiques and restaurants.
