Frequently asked questions


How do I book an apartment?
To book an apartment you will have to pay a booking deposit. The booking deposits are between 20% and 50% of the total price. Please be aware that, once we forward the booking deposit to the owner, there is no possible way to refund the deposit in case of cancellation.

What fees or taxes come on top of the nightly rate?
None. The rates you receive from us are not subject to fees or taxes. A fee of 5% will apply ONLY in case you pay the balance using your credit card.

How do I pay the booking deposit?
You can pay the booking deposit via PayPal, credit card or wire transfer.

When is the balance due? The balance is due on the check-in date. Please be aware that the owners DO NOT grant access into the apartments unless the total rent is paid upon arrival.

How Do I pay the balance?
You may pay the balance in cash upon arrival or via wire transfer or credit card prior to your arrival.

In what currency am I paying the balance upon arrival?
We accept USD, EUR and BRL. You may pay in whichever currency is more convenient for you, using the daily exchange rate on the day of the payment.

May I use my ATM card and withdraw money to pay the balance upon arrival?
Yes, this is possible. Please check the withdrawal daily and weekly limit of your ATM card with your bank. The default limit on US and European ATM-cards is between US $ 400 and US $ 700 per day, which amount might not be sufficient for you to complete the payment and have cash for your expenses in Rio de Janeiro.

May I pay the balance using travelers’ checks?
Unfortunately we CANNOT accept travelers’ checks for the payment of the balance. Be aware that travelers’ checks are exchanged at A significantly lower rate THAN cash.

The number of people traveling has changed, may I switch my booking to a bigger / smaller apartment?
After paying the booking deposit, we forward it to the owner of the apartment you have booked. If you want to book another apartment, the booking deposit will be lost.

How do I get to the apartment from the airport? The easiest way for you to get to the apartment is by using our airport transfer. After completing the apartment booking, you may book your airport transfer with us.

My flight arrives during the night, how can I get into the apartment?
If your flight is scheduled to land after 21:30, it means that you will get to the apartment after midnight. The driver who will pick you up at the airport will have the keys and will let you in the apartment. A representative of ours will meet you in the morning for the check-in procedure.

Is there internet access in the apartment?
Yes, all our apartments offer broad-band internet access at no additional charge.

Is there extra fee for cleaning the apartment during or after my stay?
The price includes maid service 2 – 4 times a week (depending on the apartment), plus the cleaning after check-out. You DO NOT need to pay anything for this service.

What time MAY I check-in and check-out?
The check-in and check-out times are same as in the hotels:
11:30 check-out
14:00 check-in
If there is no check-out on your check-in day or no check-in on your check-out day, we are always glad to offer you early check-in or late check-out at no additional fee. Please confirm the status of the apartment on these days with our staff.

I don’t have a late check-out, but my flight departs only at night. Could RioHolidays assist me with my luggage?
We do our best to help in such cases by storing your luggage in the lobby of the building until your departure. However, this might not be possible in some buildings. Please address this issue with the check-in personnel and we will inform you wether we are able to accommodate your request.

I am arriving in the morning and the apartment is available only starting 14:30. Where do I wait?
If we have another apartment available on that morning, we will be more than happy to let you wait in it, so that you can relax and have access to bathrooms after the long flight. Please be aware that this complementary service depends on the availability of the apartments and CANNOT be guaranteed.
The second option we have is to offer you to store your luggage in the lobby of the building where you are staying, so that you can go for a walk or to the beach until the apartment is ready for you.

Whom do I contact if I encounter a problem in the apartment?
At check-in you will receive the contact numbers of our staff in Rio and you will be able to call them or email them.

Are there bed linens and towels in the apartment?
Yes, bed linens and towels are provided. You need to only bring beach towels if you wish so.

Where can I book tours or make restaurant reservations?
Our concierge service will be more than happy to assist you with all kinds of tours in Rio de Janeiro, information about nightlife, restaurants, clubs, shops and other activities.

Is damage deposit required and how do I pay it?
Yes, damage deposit is required and depends on the apartment you are booking. You can pay it either cash or, similar as in hotels, via credit card as an authorization charge, which will be refunded at your check-out.

How can I be sure that this is a legitimate business and not a scam?
To receive the booking deposits for the apartments, we use 2 verified business accounts with PayPal. Please feel free to contact PayPal and verify the reputation of our accounts. Our staff will be happy to provide you with the necessary information about the accounts.

Is there breakfast service in the apartment?
Breakfast service is available upon request. You provide the groceries (or just pay for them) and the breakfast will be prepared at the time you wish. The breakfast service fee vary between US $15 and US $35 depending on the number of people.

Does the apartment have laundry service?
The maid service includes only cleaning and washing of towels and bed linens. However, our maids are happy to wash and iron your clothes for a small tip, given that there is a washing machine in the apartment. Feel free to negotiate directly with them or to send us an email to arrange it.

Is there a hair dryer in the apartment?
In most of the apartments the owners provide hair dryers. In case you have booked an apartment without such and need one, please let us know and we will provide one for your stay.

Are pets allowed in the apartments?
Most of the owners accept dogs and cats in the apartments, but that usually increases the damage deposit. You will sign a special document assuming all possible damages caused by the pet.

Are visitors allowed in the apartment? As long as everything is kept at an appropriate level, regarding noise at night, clothing etc. you will have no problems with your visits. Big parties disturbing the neighbors at night or very “PROVOCATIVELY dressed” women going up and down in the building will be a problem in every apartment you can find on our website.
